OFFICIAL BEDTIME CLASSICS™ CONTEST RULES
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.


ELIGIBILITY & ENTRY
The Contest is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, who are 18 years of age or older as of date of entry, excluding professional writers (meaning anyone who has been paid for writing or employed as a writer in any publication or media), employees and immediate family members of the Sponsors, and its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, assigns, advertising, promotional and fulfillment agents, attorneys, and other representatives and the persons with whom each of the above are domiciled. No submissions will be accepted from published authors or other professional writers. Offer void wherever prohibited or restricted by law and subject to all federal, state and local laws.


NO PURCHASE NECESSARY
To enter, visit www.bedtimeclassics.com, click on the promotional link and complete the entry form with all required information, including your 1,500 word or less manuscript of a bedtime story. Normal Internet access and usage charges imposed by your Internet service provider will apply. Online entries must be received by 11:59p.m. ET on July 15, 2007. You may also enter via mail by typing your manuscript (in 1,500 word or less) in 12-point font, double spaced on 8.5” x 11” white paper and including a cover page with your name, complete address, daytime phone number, email address (if applicable), date of birth and a one-line synopsis of the manuscript and mailing to: BEDTIME CLASSICS™ Contest, P.O. Box 7968, Melville, NY 11775-7968. Limit one entry per person/address/email address, regardless of method of entry. Mechanically reproduced mailed entries not accepted. All mailed entries must be mailed separately, be postmarked by July 16, 2007 and received by July 23, 2007.

Entries must be suitable for a picture book, meant for ages newborn to four, must also be the original work of the entrant, unpublished and must not have been submitted in any other competition or previously published or won any awards. Entries must be in keeping with Sponsors’ image and may not be offensive, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, nor can it defame or invade publicity rights or privacy rights of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any person's personal or proprietary rights. The maximum length for manuscripts is 1,500 words in 12-point font and must not include art or illustrations. Each mailed manuscript must be double-spaced on 8.5” x 11” white paper, must include a cover page from the entrant (the entrant must be the author of the manuscript), which includes your name, complete address, daytime phone number, email address (if applicable), date of birth and a one-line synopsis of the manuscript. Entries that do not contain the required information stated in this paragraph will be disqualified.

Online entries will be determined as the person who registers online, whether or not one or more people share the same email address in the same household and any damage made to the web site will be the responsibility of same. In the event of a dispute concerning the identity of the winner submitting an entry, the winner will be deemed to be the person in whose name the entry was submitted.

ENTRY PERIOD
The Contest will commence at 12:00 p.m. ET on April 23, 2007 and end at 11:59p.m. ET on, July 16, 2007.

JUDGING AND NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS

Manuscripts will be judged based on the following judging criteria: quality of writing (25%), age-appropriateness of subject matter (25%), originality (25%) and universal appeal (25%), to determine the 50 finalists, on or about August 15, 2007, by select members of the staff at HarperCollins Children’s Books. The 50 finalists will then be re-judged (according to the above criteria) by the sponsors on or about August 31, 2007, to determine the Grand and First Prize winners. In the event of a tie in either round of judging, tied entries will be re-judged based solely on how story appeals to the imagination and/or engages the reader’s senses. By participating, entrants agree to the Official Rules and the decisions of the Judges, which shall be final and binding in all respects.


Winners will be notified by mail, email and/or phone. Potential Grand and First Prize winners will be required to execute and return an affidavit of eligibility, liability/publicity release (where legal) and assignment of rights within seven (7) days of notification attempt or the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner may be determined. Return of any prize component or prize notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification and alternate determination. Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products Company and HarperCollins reserve the right to use winners’ stories and names and/or publish them on www.bedtimeclassics.com.


PRIZES
One (1) Grand Prize winner will have his/her entry published and illustrated with a limited print run of approximately 5,000 books; books will not be for resale and prize has no retail value. Grand Prize winner will also receive a $1,000 Gift Card (VISA or American Express), a “starter library” of classic children’s books from Harper Collins valued at $250 and a JOHNSON’S® Baby Gift Set worth $40. Value of Grand Prize is $1,290. Ten (10) First Prize winners will receive a $250 Gift Card, a “starter library” of classic children’s books from Harper Collins valued at $250 and a JOHNSON’S® Baby Gift Set worth $40. For the first 4,000 entries received, JOHNSON’S® Baby and HarperCollins Children’s Books will donate an original copy of Goodnight Moon to Reach Out and Read®. The prizes are non-transferable and cannot be sold or redeemed for cash.

CONDITIONS
By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the results of the determination of the winners, which shall be final, and waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Contest and/or these Official Rules. All federal, state and local tax liabilities arising from this Contest will be the sole responsibility of the winners. By submitting a manuscript, you hereby grant the Sponsors, their parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, assigns, attorneys, representatives and agents, including advertising, promotion and fulfillment agencies the irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide right to use, reproduce, edit, market, store, distribute, have distributed, publicly and privately display, communicate, publicly and privately perform, transmit, have transmitted, create derivative works based upon, and promote the manuscript (as such may be edited and modified by the Sponsors in their discretion) for editorial, commercial, promotional and all other purposes, including posting on Sponsors’ websites. In addition, you hereby assign to the Sponsors all rights, titles, and interests that you may be deemed to have in any reproduction, product, or derivative work using or incorporating the manuscript. You represent and warrant that: (i) the manuscript does not and shall not infringe on any copyright or any other third party right nor violate any applicable law or regulation, (ii) you have the right to grant any and all necessary rights and licenses provided herein, including without limitation, all necessary copyright and other related rights to the manuscript, free and clear of all claims and encumbrances without violating the rights of any person or entity, including any right to privacy or publicity. You hereby hold the Sponsors harmless from and against any third party claim arising from use of the manuscript. You waive any right to inspect or approve uses of the manuscript or to be compensated for any such uses. You hereby represent and warrant that you have read these rules, are fully familiar with its contents and agree to be bound by them.

The entrants release, discharge, and hold harmless the Sponsors and their parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, assigns, attorneys, representatives and agents, including advertising, promotion and fulfillment agencies, from any and all liability or damages arising from the administration of the Contest and the use or misuse of any prize received in this Contest, including, without limitation, the following: (i) late, lost, incomplete, delayed, misdirected, unintelligible or postage-due entries, (ii) any printing, typographical, administrative or technological errors in any materials associated with the Contest, and (iii) any damage to the entrant's computer, related equipment, data files, and software resulting from entrant's downloading of information regarding the Contest or participation in the Contest.

The Sponsors may only use the personally identifiable information obtained from the entrants in accordance with its Privacy Policy.

The Sponsors reserve the right, in their discretion, to modify, cancel or suspend the online portion of the Contest should a virus, bug, computer problem or other causes beyond its control corrupt the administration, security or proper operation of the Contest. In the event of termination, a notice will be posted and all online entries received prior to termination and all mailed entries received will be judged according to these Official Rules. The Sponsors may prohibit you from participating in the Contest or winning a prize if, in their discretion, they determine that you are attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, hacking or employing other unfair practices or by abusing other entrants or the representatives of Sponsors.

ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS, AND, IN SUCH EVENT, HARPERCOLLINS AND JOHNSON & JOHNSON CONSUMER PRODUCTS COMPANY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO PURSUE ITS REMEDIES AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING COSTS AND ATTORNEY'S FEES) TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW.

Any dispute arising from the Contest will be determined according to the laws of the State of New York, without reference to its conflict of laws principles, and the entrants consent to the personal jurisdiction of the State and Federal Courts located in the State and County of New York over them and agree that such courts have exclusive jurisdiction over all such disputes.
